The Grayson County fair is conducted by a hard working group of volunteers who work year round to share this opportunity with the citizens of Grayson County and surrounding areas.  After the fair is completed in October, the board will meet in November to review the successes and areas needed for improvement and start working on the next fair.  The Grayson County Fair is designed to appeal to all ages.  Only the livestock events are limited to youth only.  Adults and youth are invited to demonstrate their skills in the Creative Arts building.  The Fair Board does not own the grounds at Loy Lake Park where the fair is now conducted, they are rented from the Texoma Exposition and Livestock Show Board for the week.

The history of the Grayson County Fair dates back to multiple events according to notes made by Judge Vaughn.  In 1868 the 1st fair was held in Sherman on south Rusk.  In 1869 the fair was held around Fairview.  Then, due to finances, the fair stopped until 1873 when they had a large crowd but again finances prevented them from the next fair until 1876 and the final fair was around 1879.  then in 1915/1916 the fair was back only to be interrupted by World War I.  in 1920 a fair association was started and collaborated with Old Settlers park and the city of Sherman to erect some permanent structures at Old Settler's Park.  The Fair Association was incorporated in 1924 and the fair continued untl at least 1933 before stopping again.
